Nitrous Oxide (Laughing gas)
Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is used to make other treatment more comfortable. It is not used for numbing the tooth, only the brain. It's safe, has proven effective over a long period of time, and is pleasant. You will be given a nose piece that allows you to breathe in and out through your nose. You will be given pure oxygen for 5 minutes to start with, to clean your blood to accept the nitrous.

Once the nitrous is turned on, you will notice a more sedate feeling, and a feeling of floating on a cloud. After this, any needed local anesthetic is applied and treatment begins. Afterwards, you will be given pure oxygen to breathe for another 10 minutes to dissipate the effects of the nitrous and return you to a normal state. We also have personal headsets, or you can bring your own MP3 player, to listen to music to cover up the sound of the hand piece.
